Storypad

Publishing & Converting

Storypad is a textual reprocessing engine which has been in development for over three years. Written as a Java component, it offers a compact, robust and cross-platform solution.

Storypad is designed to aid and automate as much as possible of the translation, reprocessing and enhancing of textual data. Its possible uses include: -

  • Turning textual data in a proprietary or legacy format into HTML/XML.
  • Recovering content embedded in HTML or pdf.
  • Providing an interface between systems.
  • Validating data prior to feeding into a database publishing system.
  • Data mining operations; eg extracting summaries of URLs from web pages.
  • Generating list of keywords.
  • Cleaning up, editing, enhancing or restructuring data.
  • Quickly determining what can be cost-effectively recovered from a data source.
  • Replacing bespoke scripts.
  • Produce an incremental feed from data files.
  • Insert and view data within a database.

With Storypad, there is no need for specialist knowledge and programming expertise, allowing organizations to focus on the quality of the data.

The GUI client sits on top of the decoder, allowing the user to quickly see both raw and processed data. This allows users to perform a series of "what if" scenarios on-the-fly, assisting in the decoding or editing of the data. Once a rule set for decoding has been decided upon, Storypad can be set to run in background mode, quietly and effortlessly transforming your old data automatically.
