Vladimir Katalov reports from the frontline
Dmitry Skylarov to be transferred to California shortly
20 July 2001
ElcomSoft Managing Director, Vladimir Katalov, provided an updated comment as to the alleged location and well-being of the arrested Russian programmer Dmitry Skylarov to Planet eBook via email.
Following is an official statement from Vladimir Katalov, reproduced verbatim:
"As of 07/19 13:00 (Las Vegas time), Dmitry is still in Vegas! His "official" atthorney (sorry, don't know the term -- the one given to him by the government) just don't do anything, and failed to provide us with the correct information, or didn't have that information himself.
Second (good) news: Russian Council spoke to Dmitry for the first time. He said that Dmitry feels good and very optimistic. He was really glad to see that me and Alexander are there. The officials said that he will be transferred to California very soon -- probably, even tomorrow. And it looks like he can make phone calls (as much as he wants), but all his money and credit card were confiscated on arrest :( But there is no reason to send him money to Vegas (I think many people will like to do that), because he can be transferred to CA at any time."
