Lucky iPAQ Pocket PC H3600 and H3100 users will be pleased to hear about Compaq's latest upgrade offer that begins on September 17, 2001. For a limited time users can upgrade their handheld device to the latest Microsoft operating system, Pocket PC 2002, free, although Compaq does charge for the upgrade CD and its delivery.

For Microsoft Reader enthusiasts, this means that you will soon have Microsoft Reader 2.0. Users of other Pocket PC devices such as Hewlett Packard's Jornada 545 and 548 devices cannot be upgraded as its ROM memory does not support this upgrade technique (flash-upgradeable ROM) -- they have to stick with Microsoft Reader 1.0.
