eBooks.com has reported a successful Book Expo America (BEA) with an agreement signed between the company and Cambridge University Press to add 600 academic titles to its eBookstore. And from then on each new Cambridge academic book will be made available from the eBooks.com site. "eBooks.com is the dominant vendor of ebooks to the Web," said eBooks.com CEO Stephen Cole. "We are delighted to welcome Cambridge to our list of global publisher partners."

The deal marks an interesting point in the world of publishing: Cambridge University Press, the world's oldest printing and publishing house, founded in the 16th century under Royal Charter from Henry VIII, makes an agreement with one of the world's oldest eBook-related companies, founded back in 1997. While an old organization, Cambridge University Press is regarded by many as one of the leaders in 21st century publishing technology, with its end-to-end XML/PDF creation-to-production workflow.

The 600 academic titles add to the existing 6,500 titles at eBooks.com, which includes categories as diverse as business, general reference, travel, computing and popular fiction, and should help to continue the eBookstore's 10-15% growth over the past six months.
