August 26th Court Date for ElcomSoft Trial

San Jose, CA - ElcomSoft attorney, Joseph Burton appeared before Judge Ronald Whyte in Federal court to schedule a trial date for the ongoing case, "U.S. Government vs ElcomSoft". The trial is now set to begin on Monday, August 26th, 2002. The upcoming trial follows a written ruling issued by Judge Whyte on May 3, in which Motions to dismiss based on the 5th Amendment’s "Due Process" and the First Amendment’s "Freedom of Speech" were denied.

ElcomSoft is the Moscow based Software Development Company, indicted along with their lead programmer Dmitry Sklyarov in July of last year. Sklyarov’s arrest created a furor among software programmers and generated widespread protests around the globe. Dmitry has returned to Russia and continues to work for ElcomSoft.

There is no comment from ElcomSoft Founder and CEO, Alex Katalov.
