Franklin becomes 'master reseller' of OverDrive's ebook authoring software for Microsoft Reader

Franklin, the developer of the soon to be released eBookman handheld device, has announced that it has been appointed the 'master reseller' of ebook authoring software by OverDrive.

The agreement will see OverDrive's ReaderWorks Publisher (for creating .LIT files) and the ReaderWorks Software Developers Kit (SDK) (for automating high-volume production of ebooks) being sold and distributed from Franklin.com.

OverDrive's ReaderWorks debuted as the first publishing software for the .LIT file format used by the Microsoft Reader software. Based on the open ebook standard OEB, the publisher converts HTML-based pages, stylesheets and images into fully fledged ebooks.
