Random House releases 100+ classics
In a move that may scare traditional booksellers around the globe, Random House has announced the release of more than 100 classics from its Modern Library (see list), which are being sold through a number of online ebook stores.
The ebooks, to be published in Adobe Acrobat Reader, Glassbook Reader and Microsoft Reader formats, include important works such as Joyce's Ulysses, Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment, Emily Brone's Wuthering Heights and Austen's Pride & Prejudice. Many of the titles (being sold by Random House for $4.95) are available online though, many of them do not come in formats suitable for Acrobat, Glassbook and Microsoft Reader viewers.
